Types of Competition

Individual

Most competitions are individual events, with players drawn against each other based upon seedings. Matches are then played in a knockout format, until two players remain to play a final.

There are some individual competitions that give you the chance to compete against other players of a similar standard- box league and ladder competitions are two such competitions that you will find at most clubs around the country.

Examples- British Open, National Racketball Championships

Team

Team events are extremely popular as they allow you to test yourself against players of a similar standard while competing with friends or colleagues, and representing your club or county. Team events can be great fun, and there is often a lively social scene around team competitions.

Examples- Harris Inter County Championships, Premier Squash League

Doubles

Doubles tends to be played recreationally more than in competitions, as courts suitable for doubles play are often hard to find. Doubles events take a similar format to individual events, with pairs playing knockout matches until two pairs remain.
