Throughout the 2011/12 season, your County Association will be able to offer you free training through attendance at an approved England Squash & Racketball Referee Training Workshop at a venue in or near to your county. All you have to do is, attend a full Referee Workshop which lasts approx. 3.5 hours and then complete the referees examination within the next two months. Examinations are usually emailed or posted to you to complete and return within 48 hours, but you are free to refer to the rules or notes to help you.

REFEREES TRAINING ROUTE
The first stage to becoming a referee is to attend an Approved England Squash & Racketball Referee Workshop. These are run by qualified Instructors and take place around the country throughout the year, and attendance of the workshop and successful completion of the refereeās exam will qualify you as a Club Referee grade. If you are under 16 years of age, you can attend the same workshop and, if you successfully complete a Junior Referees exam, you will qualify as a Junior Referee. UKCC Level 2 Coaches who qualify after 1st January 2012 will also qualify as a Club Referee, provided they have successfully completed the Referee Tasks on the course.
Junior Referees are able to qualify to Club Grade if they succesfully complete the full referees exam within 2 years of attending an approved workshop. Similarly, Club Referees are able to progress to County Referee after acheiving 3 succesful assessments and attending an approved training workshop within the past 2 years. From time to time ESR will invite Club Referees who wish to progress, to events where referee assessors are in attendance. During this stage, you will have the opportunity to be supported, mentored and assessed by experienced referees.
England Squash & Racketball, after being advised of your promotion, will issue a certificate and referees information pack. You will also be eligible to apply for refereeing duties at any England Squash & Racketball event and will receive invitations to do this.
For full details of the ‘Referees Progression Route’ please refer to downloads on this site.
Progression to Tournament and National Grade referee will be possible, depending on the referees continued activity, performance through assessment and experience at ESR events.
