Big Hit Court Challenge event at Hallamshire
As part of the Big Hit Tour the Hallamshire Tennis & Squash club hosted a very successful Court Challenge event with junior teams from the Abbeydale, Brampton Manor and Hallamshire clubs. The event was held on Sunday 27 January in the afternoon and over 50 children competed. Each club entered mixed teams into the under 13 and under 17 age categories. The 4 person teams then played a Round robin format against other teams in their age group.
The event was run very smoothly thanks to the cooperation of a team of club volunteers. The atmosphere at the club was ‘electric’ as many parents, relatives and friends swelled the spectators, watching across the 8 courts used.
Brampton Manor entered 3 under 13 and 1 under 17 team (see photo) and were very pleased to win the under 13 Team event and M Wallis was also the highest individual scorer in the under 13 event. He received a Dunlop back pack as a prize; but all the children received Big Hit Court Challenge t shirt.
After the event all the players enjoyed a Pizza and chips tea. It is hoped that the event will be repeated in about 6 weeks, at the Hallamshire Tennis & Squash club
