The two pre-tournament favourites Yorkshire and Dorset eased into Sundays Final, both with comprehensive wins over the other 2 counties in their groups on Saturday.
Yorkshire won the “War Of The Roses” clash with Lancashire in Group B 3-0 without dropping a game and later in the day David Lord’s team despatched Warwickshire 3-1 to ensure their pace in Sundays Final.
In Group A, Dorset had equally convincing victories against Derbyshire and Merseyside, winning both 3-0 with 1st string Paul Taylor showing his class.
Derbyshire captained by Nigel Millington made sure of a 3rd/4th play of place from Group A when they beat Merseyside 3-0
In Group B a close fought match between Warwickshire and Lancashire decided who would go through to Sundays 3rd/4th play of spot. 3rd string Paul Gibbs of Warwickshire clinched a 3-2 win against Lancashire’s Steve Kaye to put the Midlanders through 2-1.
No wins on Saturday for Merseyside and Lancashire meant that on Sunday they would be playing each other in the 5th/6th play off
