England Squash & Racketball’s Elite Coach Development Manager, Paul Carter paid a visit to Luton & Dunstable Squash Club on Monday 24th June.
The workshop, at the recently refurbished Lewsey Sports Park, lasted for three hours with the evening broken into two parts. Carter first coached LDS’ juniors; boys and girls ranging from 6 to 15. Paul then took to the court with the club’s coaches, focussing specifically on video coaching and coaching movement. It provided an excellent first trial for LDS’ new coaching software from squashskills.com.
Paul Main, Club Chairman, said, “It’s always great to welcome a coach of the stature of Carts to LDS. He was clearly impressed by the recent refurbishment and enthused about the commitment of all the youngsters, which is a testament to the work being done by Steve Davies, our head coach”.
Steve Davies, Head Coach, said, “Paul gave the coaches and the kids plenty to work on and the juniors really responded to the content and his unique style. The club has worked very hard to raise the funds to pay for the hardware and software to enhance our coaching resources and for Paul to come and give the coaches some really good advice on how to maximise its use is invaluable. It’s another step on the path we are aiming to follow to make us recognised as one of the region’s top clubs”.
Part of the money for the video coaching software at LDS was raised by LDS’ Club Chairman, Paul Main’s, recent mountaineering challenge for charity. So far he has managed to raise £600 which is to be split equally between Rett UK and the video coaching fund.
