IMPORTANT RANKINGS CHANGES FROM 1ST AUGUST 2012

It is generally felt that there is a need to reduce the point difference between the various levels of events.

Highly ranked players are guaranteed entry into major tournaments and therefore guaranteed the bigger points, leaving a tier between these and the players below. Lower ranked players can therefore struggle to get entry into larger events and have little opportunity to rise up the rankings regardless of their standard.

To correct this, points (per round) from the 1st August will be reduced as detailed in the attachment below.

Currently a player can use two results from a higher age category in their ranking calculation, but an unlimited amount from the lower age category. The 2 results concept will now also apply to the lower age category For example:

An Under 13 player will only be able to include two Under 11 and/or two Under 15 results in the calculation of their Under 13 ranking.
