The new squash season is almost upon us and it promises to be a very busy year with a full and exciting calendar of events, providing competitive opportunities for all junior players. As more players than ever are now participating in events and entering the National Rankings it is a good time to re-emphasis the expected level of behaviour for everyone playing in England Squash & Racketball events.
Squash prides itself on high levels of sportsmanship and England Squash & Racketball are determined to uphold this tradition.
All players are reminded that they must always show RESPECT, SPORTSMANSHIP and SELF CONTROL:
RESPECT
• Respect the referee / marker and refereeing decisions
• Respect your opponent and always shake hands at the end of a match
• Respect the club and facilities
SPORTSMANSHIP
• Embrace fair play and own up to shots that you know are out, down or not up
• Acknowledge good shots by your opponent
SELF CONTROL
• Always refrain from shouting and the use of foul and abusive language
• Always refrain from throwing or abusing your equipment
• Always stop and ask for a let if you think there may be a danger of hitting your opponent with a racket or ball.
Sanctioned Event organisers are being asked to report all incidents of bad behaviour and these will be treated seriously. Where it is felt appropriate sanctions will be imposed including the possibilities of competition bans and players being excluded from both Regional and National activity.
Squash is a fantastic and highly competitive sport that should be fun for all involved – please help us to keep it that way.
We wish you all an enjoyable and successful season.
