Former badminton, squash and tennis players took to the courts at Heaton Tennis & Squash club. This time they tried out the UK’s fastest growing racket sport: Racketball. Members of the Bradford University of the 3rd Age branch were introduced to racketball by Assistant Coach Saeed Ahmad and equipment supplied by the NE Regional office of England Squash and Racketball. The Manager at Heaton, Mike Brown said ‘I’m so pleased that empty courts are being used and that we are attracting new people to the club during the day. Even the pupils from the adjacent school St Bede’s were impressed with the way they were playing!’
The members spent almost an hour on court hitting forehand & backhand drives, learning and laughing, whilst developing their racketball skills. They all enjoyed themselves and have returned for further sessions on a Thursday morning.
It is hoped that this will be the 4th U3A Racketball group set up in the locality, joining Craven, Ilkley and Leeds U3A Branches.
