Squash Proves Popular with Guernsey Sports Commission
This month the staff at Guernsey Sports Commission have tried squash and racketball, with Ben Rosec coaching their sessions at Beau Sejour Squash Club.
The sessions included some agility runs, basic shots, rules and techniques to beat your opponent. The basics were mastered fairly quickly so Ben put their skills to the test, getting them to play matches.
Oliver Tracey from the Sports Commission highlighted at the end of the sessions that “squash is a sport that everyone should have a go at, it is athletic, requires good hand eye co-ordination and is lots of fun, and I would thoroughly recommend it to anyone”.
Overall it was a great experience that has opened the eyes of the staff to a potential new sport that could be introduced into the Sports Commission’s ‘Quids In Programme‘. It offers children in Junior and Secondary school the chance to try a range of sports for only £1 a go.
