Once again Squash and Olympic games have featured together in the news this week. This time it was as a result of Frank Cygler, recipient of the 2011 Manchester Sports ‘unsung hero’ Award for his tireless support of squash in the North West for over 30 years, who took possession of the Olympic Flame on 24th June as it continued its journey across the region.

Frank eventually handed over the torch to non-other than World Cup winning football legend Sir Bobby Charlton. The torch carried by Frank is now on permanent display at Cheetham Hill Squash Club after it was formally presented to him at Cheetham Hill Squash Club on 24th as part of a ceremony which also saw the club receiving their award for runner up in the club of the year competition and the presentation of the Jubilee Squash Trophy to the winners.
