England’s rising star Emily Whitlock is through to her second Junior World Open semi final.

Second seed Whitlock was made to work hard for her 3-1 victory over Egyptian Salma Hany.

Playing consistent lines with depth and a variety of pace she controlled the rallies at the beginning of the match taking the first 11/7. Towards the middle of the second she began to lose this plan letting Salma have a lot more freedom in taking the ball in short, and this she did with beautiful exquisite shots to the front which were just too good for England’s Whitlock.

Salma took an 8-5 lead in this game and it looked like she was going to level the match until the Emily began to find her length and restricted Salma and clawed her way back to win the game to take a 2-0 lead.

Salma came out for the third and rattled off numerous outright winners, the flair was superb, Emily’s length and width was not quite as she would have liked it, allowing Salma to race away and take the taking that game 11/4.

Back to basics for Emily in the fourth, the English girl restricting Salma from taking the ball in short superbly. This allowed Emily to take control again with consistency to the back of the court and purpose to the front, winning the match to reach her second World Open semi final.

2 Emily Whitlock (Eng) bt [5/8] Salma Hany Ibrahim (Egy) 11/7, 11/8, 4/11, 11/5 (36m)
