Junior High Performance

National Squads 2010/2011

There will be a change in format to Junior National Squads for the new season.

12 players will be invited to each squad
3 players from each age group will be selected (boys and girls)
The top 2 ranked players will be selected automatically, with 1 discretionary selection
The introduction of u11 players at National Squad (they will train with the u13s)
National u11/13 Squads to coincide with u11/13 Regional Squads
3 coaches at each squad (rather than 2)

National Squads U11

For the 2010/2011 season the criteria for selection for U11’s will not be done using the U11 rankings as we do need at least a year for these rankings to be imbedded into the system. U13’s rankings will be looked at as well as regional coaches input into players ability and potential.

We are confident that the quality of each squad will be enhanced as a consequence of these changes, with players able to receive a greater degree of support.

Once again we will have considerable support from the EIS at National Squads, including Matt Cooke (Strength & Conditioning), Nick Chadd (Strength & Conditioning) and Will Forbes (Performance Analysis).

October 2nd/3rd Lilleshall
November 6th/7th Lilleshall
February 5th/6th Surrey Sports Park
April 9th/10th Lilleshall

National Squads U15/U17 dates:
October 16th/17th Surrey Sports Park
November 27th/28th Lilleshall
January 15th/16th Lilleshall
February 26th/27th Surey Sports Park

European Preparation Squad:
April 19/20th – Lilleshall National Sports Centre

Overseas coach supported events will be:
Pioneer 2nd/5th July
Dutch 8th/11th July
French 18th/20th February

Test Matches v Wales and Scotland 11th/12th December Lilleshall
Five Nations v Wales, Scotland, Ireland and France 22nd/24th April Lilleshall
European U15/U17 Championships 14th/17th May Germany
