Parents
Squash is a great way for kids to have fun, get some exercise, and make new friends. In England there are hundreds of approved clubs running Mini Squash sessions every week, with any club endorsed by England Squash & Racketball undergoing strict assessment.
All England Squash & Racketball licensed coaches are CRB checked and trained to deliver Mini Squash, so you can be assured that your child will have fun in a safe environment.
There are three levels of Mini Squash coaching, with each level teaching your child different skills that are based around squash, but also improve balance, coordination, and movement. At each level players use equipment appropriate to their age and ability, and receive a Mini Squash passport to record their progress.
FUNdation
This is the first level of Mini Squash and helps to develop skills and confidence. The emphasis is on developing key movement and coordination skills while being introduced to the basics of squash.
IMPROVER
This is the second level of Mini Squash and helps to develop basic racket/hand-eye coordination through hitting practices and games. The ball used for this level is bigger and bouncier than a traditional ball, giving children more time to learn and play basic strokes.
PRO
This is the final stage and prepares children for the full game of squash through the development of the technical and tactical principles of the game. Players will also learn key shots such as the drive, volley, service, boast, drop and lob.
How can my child play Mini Squash?
We would recommend you find a local club who offer Mini Squash sessions. Clubs within the England Squash & Racketball Charter structure have undergone strict assessment to ensure they are suitable for children, and the new Club Finder will help you find this type of club in your area.
